What Data We Collect and Why

Contact Form Submissions

When you submit a contact or inquiry form on our site, we collect your name, email address, and any information you include in your message. We use this information solely to respond to your inquiry. We do not add you to any mailing list without your explicit consent.

Comments

If you leave a comment on our site, we collect the information shown in the comment form, your IP address, and your browser user agent string to assist with spam detection. An anonymized string derived from your email address may be shared with the Gravatar service to display a profile image alongside your comment. The Gravatar privacy policy is available at automattic.com/privacy. Approved comments and profile pictures are visible to the public.

Analytics and Tracking

We use Google Analytics and Google Tag Manager to collect anonymized data about how visitors use our site, including pages visited, time on site, traffic sources, and device type. This data is used to improve our website and understand our audience. Google Analytics data is processed in accordance with Google's privacy policy. You can opt out of Google Analytics tracking by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.

Media Uploads

If you upload images to this website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS). Visitors to the site can download and extract location data from any images published on the site.

Cookies

Our website uses cookies — small text files stored on your device — for the following purposes:

  • Comment cookies — If you leave a comment you may opt in to saving your name, email address, and website in cookies for your convenience. These cookies last for one year.
  • Session cookies — When you visit our login page, a temporary cookie is set to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.
  • Login cookies — If you log in to our site, login cookies lasting two days and screen preference cookies lasting one year will be set. Selecting "Remember Me" extends login persistence to two weeks. Logging out removes login cookies.
  • Analytics cookies — Google Analytics sets cookies to track visitor behavior anonymously. These cookies do not identify you personally.

You can control or disable cookies through your browser settings. Disabling cookies may affect the functionality of certain parts of this site.

Embedded Content from Other Websites

Pages on this site may include embedded content such as videos, images, or articles from other websites. Embedded content behaves as if you had visited that website directly. Those websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with the embedded content.

Who We Share Your Data With

We do not sell your personal data to third parties. We may share your data with the following service providers solely for the purpose of operating this website and delivering our services:

  • Google Analytics / Google Tag Manager — website analytics and event tracking
  • Gravatar / Automattic — comment profile images
  • WordPress.com — spam detection for visitor comments
  • PayPal / Venmo — payment processing for client engagements

If you request a password reset, your IP address will be included in the reset email. Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.

How Long We Retain Your Data

  • Contact form submissions are retained for up to two years for business correspondence purposes and then securely deleted.
  • Comments and their metadata are retained indefinitely so that follow-up comments can be recognized and approved automatically.
  • Registered user profiles are retained until the user requests deletion.
  • Google Analytics data is retained for 26 months in accordance with our GA4 configuration.

Your Rights Over Your Data

If you have submitted a contact form, left a comment, or have an account on this site, you have the right to:

  • Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
  • Request correction of inaccurate data
  • Request deletion of your personal data, subject to any legal obligations we may have to retain it
  • Withdraw consent for data processing where consent was the basis for collection

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at colintcurley@gmail.com. We will respond within thirty (30) days.

California Residents — CCPA Rights

As a California-based business, we comply with the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA). California residents have the right to know what personal data we collect, request deletion of their data, and opt out of the sale of personal data. We do not sell personal data. To submit a CCPA request, contact us at colintcurley@gmail.com.

Data Security

We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your personal data against unauthorized access, loss, or misuse. However, no method of transmission over the internet is completely secure and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
